November 22 2011 Local doctor co-authors stem cell study

One of Thief River Falls’ newest doctors, internal medicine provider Sandeep Jain, MD, co-authored a ground-breaking study that examined the use of stem cell transplants to treat a deadly autoimmune disease called Scleroderma. The study and its findings were published July 20, 2011.

Oncology and stem cells.
Jain attended medical school at Rajashthan University in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He spent five years in England, studying oncology and researching medications for cancers.
Jain came to the United States in 2007. He took his residency at St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa., and because of his oncology training, Jain took a fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, in the bone marrow transplant/stem cell transplant unit.
